"Davy! Dave-y Crocket! King of the Wild Frontier!" Born on August 17. 1786, Davy Crockett was more than just a frontiersman and American folk hero. He was also a politician and soldier who died at the famous battle of The Alamo. He was a member of the United States House of Representatives for his home state of Tennessee. In 1835, he was defeated for his seat in the House of Representatives, and stated in his concession speech: y"You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas." And to Texas, Crockett did go. While there, he fought for Texas alongside Jim Bowie at the Alamo, where the stateman met his demise.
