About Dame Edna

Dame Edna Everage is a fabulously drag-tastic character played by comedian Barry Humphries. Although Dame Edna denies that she's a fictional character, she has been on many television specials and written several books. She's famous for her pale purple hair color (which she insists is natural) and her sparkling, rhinestone-encrusted {cat's eye glasses}. Dame Edna wears glittering gowns and candidly speaks about life in her homeland of Australia, where she was made a Dame. For a short time, Dame Edna wrote a controversial advice column for Vanity Fair magazine. No matter what she says and how snarkily she says it, Dame Edna always means it "in a loving, caring way."
