About Cowardly Lion
In the Wizard of Oz the Cowardly Lion found himself dancing down the Yellow Brick Road with his friends Dorothy, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow to see the Wizard in the hopes he would be gifted with courage. Braver than he knew, the occassionally timid Cowardly Lion is usually the first to act to defend Dorothy and his friends from danger along the way on their journey. In the end, the Wizard gifts him with a bowl full of courage -- something he already had. In the film version of the "Wizard of Oz," the Cowardly Lion was played by actor Bert Lahr.
