About Confederate Soldier

A confederate soldier is one who belonged to the Confederate States Army. This military organization was established in 1861 and ended in 1865. The army formed to fit the Union States Army, which was the army of the North. The Confederate Soldiers did not like the laws being passed regarding the unionization of the US and to a degree the disbanding of slaves. The idea was first to form an army for National Security and Defense of the Confederate States of America. Samuel Cooper and Robert E. Lee were two very important confederate officers. The soldiers were men who enlisted in the regiments and held various positions, usually at lower levels.

Dressing up as Confederate Soldier

To dress as a Confederate Soldier you need a period costume. This costume will be a gray suit with yellow. The pants are usually loose on the legs, with a military style jacket hanging just below the waist. Around the waist would be a yellow belt with fringe and a place to hold the sword. To finish the costume a civil war gun and Confederate style hat would be needed. The hat can be a Kepi or officers hat. Black boots, to the mid calf would also be worn. Other costume ideas would be Union Soldier, Army, Marine, or Navy. There is a costume for all budgets and sizes if you wish to be a Confederate Soldier at your next costume party.
