About Cobra Commander

Maniacal, evil, and slightly annoying sums up the dominating force behind the terrorist organization known as Cobra. Cobra Commander, as the head of Cobra, is a thorn in the side of the miltitary force known as G.I. Joe. Hiding his face behind either a mask or a long (and really creepy) hood, little is known about Cobra Commander except that he has a strange voice and once (in the cartoon G.I. Joe movie) transformed into a snakelike being. In the 2009 film, "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," Cobra Commander is given a different spin, known as "The Doctor," a demented, disfigured former soldier who wears a mask over the lower portion of his face and a device over his eye. The character is revealed to be the Baroness' brother and speaks in a modified, more realistic (and less hissing) way, although similar to the cartoon character. Cobra Commander is played by actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Dressing up as Cobra Commander

The officially licensed G.I. Joe Cobra Commander cosplay costume is a deluxe edition that is modeled after one of the most famous uniforms worn by the Commander from the cartoon series. Featuring a black character hood that drapes over the head with holes for the eyes, the rest of the costume features the Commander's blue uniform. It includes a one-piece blue jumpsuit fashioned to look like a two-piece outfit complete with button, belt, and holster detailing and emblazoned with the red cobra emblem. Another version of the costume is available with a helmet and attached mask instead of the creepy, draped hood. Accessorize with a toy gun and imposing black boots.
