About Chobits

Chobits is a Japanese anime and manga by Kodansha. It first appeared in Young Magazine in 2001 to 2002. There are eight volumes of the series. As an anime there are 26 episodes which aired on TBS and Animax. There is a video game, collectable cards, and other products based on the creation. The plot is about Hideki Motosuwa, who is a repeat student at Seki prep school in Tokyo. Hideki wants to obtain an android computer which is too expensive. However one evening he comes across one in the form of a girl with long hair. She is lying in a pile of trash bags. So he carries her home and has instant feelings of love given to him by the girl. He names her Chi and assumes there is something wrong with her if she has been thrown out. He asks a friend to look her over, this friend has Plum an android, who crashes when looking over Chi. Hideki is then sent to Minoru a genius who creates custom androids. A lot of the plot involves Hideki teaching Chi, as their personal relationship blossoms.

Dressing up as Chobits

For Chobits costumes there are several choices. The most typical options are Chi and Hideki. Chi has long white hair so you will need a wig, slightly pointed ears, red eyes, and a mid thigh length white dress. The dress should have spaghetti straps, with a lacy trim. For Hideki one will need a yellow kimono top, white undershirt, and black pants. Freya is another costume idea from Chobits or Kotoko who wears a large red bow over a short military style dress.
