About Carrot

A carrot is a root vegetable. The most typical carrot is orange, but purple, red, white, and yellow carrots do exist. The edible part of the carrot is not the green stem, but the root which grows in the ground and then is dug up when ready for eating. Carrots are a biennial plant. They can store a lot of sugars to allow the plant to flower every two years. If carrots are left to grow the stem can grow 3 feet tall with white flowers on the top. It is thought that Afghanistan area was the first to harvest carrots. The first mention of carrots in Europe came later in the 8th to 10 centuries. Carrots are used for a variety of dishes. Soups and stews are highly common, as are eating carrots chopped, boiled, fried or steamed. Baby and pet foods can also be made with carrot. Carrot is also a popular vegetable for a cake- Carrot Cake.

Dressing up as Carrot

Get your slice of vegetable with a carrot costume! Vegetables always make a cute costume whether you are an infant or adult. In fact the whole vegetable garden could make it to your costume party! The carrot costume is made from a plush orange fabric. The fabric tapers to a point just below the knees, but the sides of the costume are slit to make it easier for you to walk. The carrot will extend up to the top of your shoulders, with a green top for the stem. Some carrot costumes will have the orange cover the head with a longer stem. Remember if you have a carrot you’ll definitely have to have a rabbit to chase you around the party!
