About Carolers

Carols are songs usually sung during festivals or special times of the year. They don't usually have a religious connotation, but sometimes they do. In a tradition dating back centuries, carolers are groups of singers who go from home to home, usually during the Christmas holiday season. They often carry books of songs to sing and are decked out in warm attire befitting the wintry weather. Often, carolers will dress up in Edwardian or Victorian attire, straight out of a Charles Dickens story to give a more festive touch to their singing.

Dressing up as a Caroler

Here they come a wassailing! Tis the season for roving bands of merry peddlers of holiday cheer to sing their favorite Christmas carols from door to door. Dress up as a Victorian caroler with a stovepipe hat or fuzzy white handwarming muff. Wear a capelet in holiday kelly green or red velvet trimmed in white with a matching bonnet. Ladies and gents can accessorize with caroler hand bells or an electric candle.
