About Captain Hook

In J.M. Barrie's play, "Peter Pan," Captain Hook was the arch-enemy of Peter Pan. Hook's history is shrouded in mystery, with rumors that he had once been a scholar at England's prestigious Eton school and that if his "true identity" came to be revealed, it would cause chaos in Neverland. Hook's heated rivalry with Peter Pan came when Pan cut off his hand and fed it to a crocodile. Fortunately for Captain Hook, the crocodile also swallowed a clock and Hook was alerted of the croc's presence whenever he heard him ticking. Hook's missing, croc-bait hand was eventually replaced with an iron hook from which he derived his pirate namesake.

Dressing up as Captain Hook

Order your friends to "walk to plank" dressed as Peter Pan's Neverland nemesis, Captain Hook. Officially licensed Disney costumes based on the animated version of Captain Hook from the classic film are available in adult and children's sizes. (There are even costumes to outfit babies as the Captain!) Each costume includes a longsleeved red coat trimmed in gold, a pair of black breeches, and a white jabot.

Accessorize your costume with a pirate hook of plastic with a "chrome" look that fits over your own hand. Put on a long, curly black wig worn beneath a pirate hat or tricorner hat with a feather in it for a dignified look befitting a nefarious pirate. Add your own penciled-in thin mustache as a finishing touch!
