About Butterflies

One of the most unique species in nature, the butterfly has three distinct stages in its life cycle. In its larvae stage, it is a multi-legged and sometimes fuzzy caterpillar. In its pupae stage, it wraps itself into a cocoon and is inactive before its third stage, it emerges from its chrysallis as a beautiful, winged butterfly. Like bees, butterflies are responsible for pollenation, carrying fertilizing pollen as they fly from flower to flower.

While there are many different types of butterflies in a rainbow of colors, one of the most popular and widely seen butterflies is the Monarch Butterfly with its large, majestic wingspan. This colorful character has wings of orange, yellow, and black.
