In the '80s cartoon version of the Transformers, Bumblebee was the "kid brother" of the heroic Autobots faction. Smaller than the bulk of the towering Autobots (although, by human standards, this robot in disguise's 8-foot height was nothing to sneeze at!), Bumblebee transformed into a compact yellow-and-black Volkswagon Beetle. In the film version of the Transformers and its forthcoming sequel, Bumblebee is a flashy yellow sports car, usually in the guise of a Camaro. He is unable to "talk" like the rest of the Autobots, such as Optimus Prime, however, Bumblebee communicates through songs on his car stereo system. In both the cartoon and film version, Bumblebee is very close to the human ally of the Autobots, Sam.
