About Blood

"The blood is life." So says many a vampire who needs this bodily fluid to survive. Blood provides the life force for humans, carrying oxygen to all parts of the body and acting essentially as a fuel for all of the major organs. It appears blue in the veins, however, when it is drawn to the surface, appears as a red liquid. Several components make up blood including white and red cells, plasma, and hemoglobin, among others. Additionally, each person has one of four different types of blood: Type A, Type B, Type O, and Type AB. Each blood type is considered positive or negative, depending on whether or not it possesses the RH (or Rhesus) factor. Regardless of type, the human body has eight pints of blood, although two pints can be withdrawn or donated and the body can still function normally, eventually regenerating its blood supply.

Dressing up with Blood

A little bit of blood goes a long way! Dress up any vampire, zombie, or horror-themed costume with some fake blood. Several types of fake blookd are available to add a macabre touch to your costume of choice. Pre-packaged tubes of fake blood in liquid form are available, perfect for squirting and splattering on a doctor or surgeon costume for a creepy coroner look. Or, create your own with Powdered blood that allows for great makeup effects, like a motorcycle/road rash victim. Or, if you want to spit blood like Gene Simmons or Dracula, nontoxic Blood capsules are another option.
