About Billy Mays

Arguably television's most prolific pitchman, Billy Mays was born on July 20, 1958. He started out as a traveling salesman, taking his products on the road for 12 years before eventually landing on televsion, hawking OxiClean on the Home Shopping Network, HSN. His loud, over-the-top style made him a hit with consumers, entertaining them as he pitched products like Zorbees, Kaboom!, the Ding King, and OrangeGlo, among others. Known for his impeccably groomed black beard and denim workshirt, Mays' popularity grew to the point of being given his own reality show, "PitchMen." Billy Mays died in 2009 at the age of 50 after a heart attack at home. He was actually buried wearing a shirt bearing the OxiClean logo and his pallbearers wore Mays' trademark blue denim shirt and khakis.
