Bernie Madoff is a former non- executive chairman with the NASDAQ stock exchange who has recently been in the press for his Ponzi scheme. In fact he has been called the largest fraudster of any Ponzi scheme committed by one person. He has been charged with securities fraud, investment fraud, money laundering, and perjury. He is going to be sentenced on June 29, 2009 in which may get a life sentence and have to pay up to $170 billion in restitution. Several high profile companies were taken in by this man, as well as families. Families and businesses are going bankrupt for what this man did. He has 11 counts of criminal complaint against him, and has admitted to defrauding people. Bernie is Bernard Lawrence Madoff born April 29, 1938.
