About Benedict Arnold

Benedict Arnold was a war time general for the Revolutionary War. He fought for the American Continental Army at first then turned to the British Empire. As a general he was stationed at West Point New York where he tried to surrender it to the British. However, this did not go well. The plot failed and he then joined the British force as a Loyalist. Most notably about the general is the statement “The Best General on Either Side of the Conflict” because he did distinguish himself in the war for bravery as well as for his work in the British Colonial Militia, Continental Army, and British Army. He did capture Fort Ticonderoga in 1775 and also delayed the loss of the Battle of Valcour Island at Lake Champlain in 1776. He was in the Battle of Ridgefield and the Battles of Saratoga. There were nine battles he participated. He also achieved the Boot Monument as an award.

Dressing up as Benedict Arnold

Benedict Arnold was part of the revolutionary war. To dress like him you would need a General costume from the 1770’s. Check out the Patriot costumes and even George Washington for more ideas regarding the Benedict Arnold costume. The costume has tan pants, a white dress shirt, yellow vest, with a blue coat. The blue coat would be in the British style cut, with long tail, and a few buttons in the front to keep it closed. You would need a tricorn hat, white gloves, and black boots for the costume as well. To finish the costume you would need a sword and musket as your weapons. The Benedict Arnold Costume does need a white wig. During the Revolutionary War wigs were always worn by the men to signify their status. Don’t forget to have a lady with you such as a colonial woman.
