About Batman Penguin

For those who do not read comics you might have learned about the Batman Penguin from the film Batman Returns with Michael Keaton. The Penguin named Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot in the DC Comic is one of the oldest super villains of Batman. The Penguin was first introduced in Detective Comics #58 in December of 1941. The Penguin is short, rotund, and has a love of birds specifically penguins. He carries a high tech umbrella and is definitely a mobster or gentleman of crime. The reason he is named the penguin is pretty easy to see in his costume. For the movie Danny DeVito played the Penguin with Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. Tim Burton was the director of this second 90’s Batman film. The movie begins with a deformed baby boy being thrown out into the sewers where 33 years later he rises and begins to take over Gotham City.

You better hope that if you go as Batman Penguin the Black Bat is nowhere to be found. He can stop your evil ways very quickly! For your penguin costume you will need some theatre makeup or a mask to provide the long penguin like nose, black teeth, and dark eyes. A grayish wig with straggly hair is also needed. The costume will begin with a plush body in a penguin like tuxedo suit. Your feet will be tight together for the penguin waddle to be perfected. You will also have a bit of a tail on your tuxedo. A black top hat and fur overcoat can help enhance this dastardly costume!
