About Baseball

Known as "America's Pastime," baseball is a sport which involves two teams attempting to score points by hitting a ball with a bat. Each hit allows the players on the team to advance to one of four bases spaced out on a baseball diamond. A hit resulting in players advancing and running to all four bases on a play is known as a "home run." The opposing team can stop the hitting team's advance towards the bases by catching the ball after its been hit and tagging the runner between bases. If the runner makes it to one of the four bases and stays there, he's safe, however, the play is over. Once the hitting team receives 3 sets of 3 strikes, they are out and the pitching team is allowed their turn to score goals.

The MLB, Major League Baseball is home to the American League and National Leagues of baseball teams within the United States and Canada, home to 30 different teams between the two divisions.
