About Bar Wench

A bar wench is just another name for a female server or beer wench. The idea used to be that a wench referred to any woman. So tacking bar in front of it states where they work. Today most would be offended by being called a bar wench. Pirate movies, books, and other historical reference material still use the word wench. So if you work in a bar, are female you could be considered a bar wench. A server in a bar is going to provide drinks for the customers. Some places may even serve food, so taking food orders would be an important part of the bar wench position.

Dressing up as Bar Wench

A bar wench since it refers to a time of pirates and peasants will have a certain period style costume. To dress as a bar wench you would need a long skirt with petticoats underneath. The top of the dress would have a corset style shirt, over a peasant blouse or no blouse if you prefer. To finish the costume high heel boots, a serving tray, and long hair would be needed. A tavern man might make a good couples costume idea. You can also take the bar wench in a differnet direction with a dirndl. A dirndl is a German and northern European style dress typical of the earlier centuries. For the dirndl a short skirt with a layered slip, corset, and clogs could also be your costume.
