About Bandidos
A Bandido or Bandito is a Spanish word for bandit or thief. The word is typically used with a Mexican connotation. Lambasted for its semi-derrogatory portrayal of Mexicans, corn chip makers Frito-Lay eventually changed the chip's mascot, the Frito Bandito to a less stereotypical cartoon character.
Dressing up as a Bandido
Dress as a traditional Mexican Bandido with a large sombrero hat and a serape. Drape a bandolier across your chest and carry a gun or two for holding up any hombres who cross your path.
For a more widely-recognized depiction of a bandito, dress as Zorro, the masked man who was more of a Mexican Robin Hood, robbing from the rich and unjust and giving back to the poor. Wear a black eye mask and a long, black cape, perfect for concealing your identity in a most elegant way. Don't forget a rapier sword to cut down any who stand in your path. Ole!
