About Bambi

Bambi is an animated film created by Walt Disney in 1942. It is a tough film for many children to watch as Bambi’s mother is killed in the opening scene. However, it does get lighter as more characters are introduced and Bambi has to learn how to cope. The film was actually based on Bambi A life in the Woods. It was a book written by Felix Salten. Bambi is a deer, a white tailed deer to be more accurate. His father was the Great Prince of the Forest, while his mother remained unnamed. In the movie Bambi meets a pink nosed rabbit with gray fur. This rabbit is Thumper. They also meet a skunk named Flower. Bambi meets Thumper and Flower while his mother is still alive after he learns to walk. He also meets Faline another deer. The story continues on about friendship, especially when a forest fire is started. All the animals must leave, and hunters are still chasing them. Bambi gets shot towards the end of the film where his dad has to help him. At the end of the movie Bambi and Faline are a couple who have twin fawns.

Dressing up as Bambi

Since Bambi is a little deer when we first meet him, most costumes will reflect his fawn status. Most costumes for Bambi will require you to hand make them, but there are some available for children. These costumes are made with plush material in a jumpsuit style. The costume for Bambi needs to have white spots on tan fur, along with dark brown hooves for both feet and hands. The back of the costume will also have a small white tail. For the head a hood is generally created so that the child’s face is left uncovered. The hood has the pointed muzzle of the deer, with deer eyes and ears.
