Born May 4, 1929 in Belgium, to an English banker father and Dutch baroness mother. She lived in Holland during WWII, unable to leave due to Hitler's occupation of the town. After the war, she studied ballet in London and then embarked on a career in acting in Hollywood. After she retired from acting, Hepburn was a UNICEF ambassador, raising money for poor children around the world and had also adopted children of all different nationalities -- long before Brad and Angelina were known for their philanthropic efforts.
