Asian is a word that describes someone or something from Asia. Asia is a large country made up of East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia. Asia is more than China, it includes countries like Thailand. Most individuals from Asian countries have darker skin than European’s. Asian individuals are often shorter with slanted eyes, black hair, and black eyes. But they do not have to be. There have been some very tall individuals from Asia. When applying the word Asian to costumes {Oriental] is often used. Oriental is derived from the word Orient, which is what China and other Asian countries were referred to in the early centuries. Asian ancestors are noteworthy for their herbal remedies and natural medicine.

Dressing up as Asian

As mentioned above Asian costumes can include a myriad of options. We will discuss a few choices here. One of the most popular Asian costumes is the Geisha. A geisha costume begins with a kimono of varied colors. Typically the kimono has long or bell shaped sleeves, a long tight skirt, and sashes used for belts. Some geisha costumes can have a bow like pillow on the back of the costume. To complete the look a geisha wig and white face makeup would be needed. A fan and parasol is also important. For men a costume choice is often a Samurai pr Karate costume. The samurai costume requires a Chinese style tunic and hose, with fake metal armor on the shoulders and covering the legs. A helmet and sword like the Katana would be needed to complete the look. For karate cotton white pants or black form fitting pants, and a white kimono top with sash is required. Think Karate Kid!
