About Alligator

An alligator is a large reptile that can be found in North America as well as a few other continents. In fact there is a Chinese alligator. Most of the alligators in North America are found in Florida. The average alligator is 800 pounds and can be 13 to 14.5 feet in length. The largest alligator ever alive was 17.5 feet and weighed about 1000 pounds. The typical alligator if it makes it passed its youth will live for 50 years. They are aggressive animals. You should not confuse the alligator with the crocodile they have distinctive noses that will tell them apart and they live in different areas. The alligator tends to like freshwater that is most brackish.
