About Akuma

The character of Akuma in the Street Fighter franchise of video games is named for a type of Japanese demon. In the game, Akuma is a boss, one of the characters you must defeat to beat the game. His character's backstory is that he is the brother of Gouken, the sensai (or teacher) of the game's two main characters Ken and Ryu. The character's fighting technicques are amped-up versions of both Ken and Ryu's fighting style and signature moves.

Dressing up as Akuma

Cosplayers, Comic Con, and Video Game convention fans will want to dress as Akuma, particularly since Street Fighter may be making a comeback with the new film, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. Dress as Akuma with the Akuma wig, a fiery red wig tied with a Japanese top knot like the character. In keeping with the Anime styling of the game, Akuma's wig juts out at angles. Finish off your look with an Akuma costume, complete with a sleeveless blue gi and brown wood-like prayer beads.
