About the '40s

The 1940s were characterized in the early half of decade by the events of World War II where the United States and Europe fought against the maniacal German dictator Adolf Hitler's attempts at world domination. With so many men at war, many women in the United States and elsewhere began working in manufacturing industries with Rosie the Riveter as a figurehead mascot of female work power. Pinup girls were also popular as a means of boosting morale to troops overseas and Big Band music with leaders like Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller were popular with their upbeat sound perfect for swing dancing.

Dressing up '40s

Pay homage to "The Greatest Generation" with costumes based on looks from the 1940s. Men can opt for a military theme with soldier costumes from WWII-era. Ladies have a number of options with pin up wigs in a varity of colors, styled in the distinctive hairdos of the 1940s.
