About the '20s

Characterized as the decade of "The Lost Generation," the 1920s were a decade of decadence amok with flappers and gangsters born of the Prohibition-era code in which booze was banned in the interest of public decency. Hemlines were shortened and necklines lowered for women who shrugged off Victorian styles in favor of something newer and hipper, wearing their hair in a chin grazing style know as "the bob." Partying and dancing to the newest trend of jazz music played in speakesies was a popular trend, as well. The era gave way to writers such as Ernest Hemmingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald who wrote "The Great Gatsby," a fairly accurate portrait of the time. Silent films were popular with stars like Rudolph Valentino, Clara Bow, and Mary Pickford as top actors of the day. The party ended in 1929, however when the Stock Market crashed and The Great Depression of the 1930s began.

Dressing up '20s

You'll be the bees knees in {Roaring 20s} costumes inspired by the decade of decadence. Ladies can dress as a flapper or Gatsby girl with a bob wig in a variety of colors and textures ranging from straight to curly with finger waves. Put on a fringed or sequinned flapper costume, rolled stockings and a long cigarette holder and feather boa for a vampy look!
