Super Bowl Recipes & Costumes to Kick Off the Big Game!
The Super Bowl is around the corner in just a couple days. One of the biggest days of the year for gatherings involving mass consumption of food (perhaps second only to Thanksgiving), if you haven’t gotten a spread together yet, it’s not too late.
Throw together an impromptu gathering with some good food and great costumes to make things festive. Whether or not you’re rooting for the New England Patriots or the New York Giants to win, there’s a costume to suit everyone.
Patriots fans can dress up like a colonial patriot in red, white, and blue. Giants fans can modify a classic Jolly Green Giant costume in red and blue team colors for an eye-catching tribute to their team.
If you’re still undecided, there are other football-related costumes to sport. Ladies have the option of a sexy referee costume, treating themselves to some killer referee boots with a hot details and an athletic look to them. Gentlemen can dress as a more traditional ref or even a football player.
Why not have your food reflect the big game, too? Throw together elements of seafood central New England with the “Giant” flavor of New York Sharp Cheddar mixed up in a Super Bowl of dip. Very simple to make and taking virtually no time at all, you can combining the best of both the AFC and NFC with this easy-to-make treat. Costumzee proudly presents a great (and surprisingly healthy) dip to compliment fresh, raw veggies (for those still sticking to their New Year’s resolutions), saltine crackers, or corn chips.
Super Bowl XLII – Sharp Cheddar Crab Dip
1 16 oz. can of lump crab meat
1/4 cup of fat free sour cream
1/4 cup of fat free mayo
_Ǭº cup of Miracle Whip
1 tablespoon of finely chopped scallions (green onions) or a tablespoon of red onion if you don’t like scallions
1 teaspoon of dill
2 teaspoons of lemon juice
Several dashes of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to taste (I prefer cayenne pepper)
Ǭ cup of shredded New York Sharp Cheddar
dump all of the ingredients in a bowl (with the exception of the shredded cheddar), and mix. Depending on if you like large chunks of crab or more finely shredded crab meat mixed throughout the dip, you can adjust the texture of the dip by not mixing the ingredients around too much.
Create a layer of shredded cheddar over the top of the dip for a sharp addition that gives even more New York underdog flavor to this chunky and healthy dip. Crab meat is naturally low in fat and is a great representation of Super Bowl favorites New England.
Enjoy the game and the dip!
