Dreidels are traditional, four-sided tops that are usually spun and played with during the Hanukkah season. They can be made of any material, but usually are constructed of wood or clay, as suggested in the Dreidel song. Each side is inscribed with a Hebrew letters for N, G, H, and P that stands for the acronym "Nes Gadol Haya Po", a phrase which means "A great miracle happened there," referring to the Miracle of the Temple for which the Festival of Lights is celebrated.
Or, get in touch with your superhero side! Little girls can dress up as Dreidel Maidel, a member of the Jewish Hero Corps, dressed in green with a flowing cape that twirls as she spins at tremendous speeds (like a Dreidel!) and flys overhead. The girls' Dreidel Maidel costume comes with a long green gown and a detachable cape, perfect for play any time of the year!
