Macy’s 2008 Thanksgiving Parade

A tradition that marks the start of the Thanksgiving Day festivities and heralds the onset of the Christmas holiday season, the Macy’s Thanskgiving Parade is now in its 82nd year. Held in New York City and sponsored by the upscale chain department store, this year’s parade is on Thursday November 27th.

Among the featured floats, balloons, and performers are Dora the Explorer, the Harajuku Girls. Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, and many more! Miley Cyrus will also be on hand for the festivities, although it’s unknown whether or not she’ll be in full Hannah Montana mode.

And, as always, the special guests of honor, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be there to usher in the holiday season at the parade’s end.

Whether or not you and your family want to visit NYC to see the parade or intend to watch it at home on NBC at 8AM, it’s a great tradition that’s been around for generations.

If you’re headed to the parade, bundle up and put on your most festive best, decked out wearing Santa hats and scarves! Or, the kids can dress as any of their favorite characters that are going to be floating high above the attendees, or coasting by on any of the beautiful floats.
