The Yip Yips (also known as the Martians or aliens) are characters on the popular American children's television show Sesame Street. They are interplanetary visitors, from the planet Mars1. They marvel at devices such as clocks, telephones and computers. When frightened, each covers its face with the lower part of its jaw while making a distinctive "goom" noise.

To be honest, I had never heard of "Domo" before, so i did a bit of digging online:

I have been paying more attention lately about silicon masks. I am not talking about silicon masks you can find at your local iParty, but special effects/movies silicon masks.
SPFMasks is one of the most popular companies were you can find, order and purchase silicon masks online.
These silicone masks are professional made: they fit to the skin, they allow some facial expressions, and they look as real as it gets.
And because of these masks, cops have a hard time catching bank robbers nowadays!

Am i missing a new trend about gas masks? First i discovered the Air Jordan gas mask (such a cool creation) but now i stumbled on these high-end designer gas masks, featuring a "Louis Vuitton" gas mask, a gas mask covered of diamonds and I am missing the 3rd one's focus, must be a designer brand...
These masks must be worth thousands of dollars, and they do seem fully functional!

Deep down, we are afraid we may never be satisfied. An expanding archive of branded myths and icons feeds this fear. Designer Gas Masks is an attempt to visualize this state of mind. Because it is only by first acknowledging and then challenging fear that we will all be able to breathe a little easier.

Another awesome yet creepy mask, not sure if it's more looking like a horse or a donkey (it's up for debate) but this is very well done.
The guys at NorthFur.ca sell a variety of animal masks (http://www.northfur.ca/gallery//masks): cow, walrus, raccoon, and so on... but the horse/donkey mask is my favorite one.
This is the Large Horse/Donkey Muzzle, a newer and larger version of our older horse muzzle. It has a large and long snout made to resemble a horse. It can be painted as many horse breeds as well as donkeys and zebras. It is made in hot foam latex and applied with Pros-Aid adhesive and painted with Kryolan Aquacolor makeup.

Researchers aim to give robots a more human-like face with a system that beams 3D images onto the back of a transparent plastic mask.
This is simply amazing. I am thinking about a million different ways this technology could be used... Imagine soldiers overseas able to have a virtual face to face using Skype with their families... Teachers could teach simultaneously at 20 different campuses around the world and be virtually present in each class!
Take video conferences. While participants in such sitdowns are usually displayed onscreen, with Mask-bot "you can create a realistic replica of a person that actually sits and speaks with you at the conference table," said Takaaki Kuratate, one of the researchers who worked on the project. "You can use a generic mask for male and female, or you can provide a custom-made mask for each person." Think head on a platter.

The Big Head project is one of these experiments. It’s a large, head-mount box with a 24″ LCD on the front showing a live video view of the wearer’s face. Of course, the face is flat, slightly miscolored, unmistakeably a video and much larger than usual.
The wearer’s face is captured with a video camera looking through a half-silvered mirror. There’s a second camera, which captures a view from the front of the box, near the eyes of the on-screen face. The outside view is shown on an internal LCD, which reflects on the half-silvered mirror; this way the wearer can look directly at the LCD and the camera at the same time. (This is essentially a tele-prompter, like Errorl Morris’ Interrotron).
It weighs around 40lb and supported by the hips.

Supermodel Heidi Klum had a lot of fun this year, she ended up wearing 2 costumes for Halloween, the skinned costume and this as amazing ape costume which she had also made for hubby Seal.
So tell me, if you had so much money to know what to do with, you would be a ... for Halloween?
I have dreamed about becoming a creature like this since I saw "The Dark crystal"( landstriders scene) when I was a child. Way into my adult life now I went to see circ de soleil, while watching the blank face crutch walkers, it hit me, why don't I combine them both. When I did a search on line it turns out there are others with the same idea (Thank you Garen and Mellissa for the info aka. Stilt Spirits). This creature I refer to as "what nightmares are made of" is 7 feet tall and primarily made of recycled foam. An Old Foam Eggcrate Mattress, duct tape (that has been spray painted black) coffee dyed cheese cloth and dollar store spooky cloth. I used old wooden crutches, I modified to make taller since they only go to 6.6ft. The most expensive thing was the dry wall stilts that I bought, which I found out is cheaper than making stilts from wood. My dream/nightmare has come true!

Rana had been explaining how she raised enough money through fans for this to be possible. She was also telling us a story about a well know company thats designs mass effect clothing basically screwed her over, and her dream to do this was lost until recently. It really was a sad story to hear, especially when nothing could have been done in terms of justice.
We're glad it work out though!

There are some costumes that, as much as you would like to, you'll never be able to reproduce, and this is one!

How did Billy Crudup fare with the heat of 2500 of them?
The LED’s did not actually run that hot, and they were not on for any length of time. We turned the suit off as soon as the take was over. The suit was never on for more than 10 minutes straight. If it did provide any warmth, that was a good thing because we shot the movie in Vancouver, BC in the middle of winter.

Ok this as creepy as it gets! This company will make an exact replica of your face on a 3D mask for around.... $4,000. Yes, not cheap, but, it's not like you can it shopping at Walmart.
It takes around 2 weeks to get your mask.

This is a remarkable costume and very detailed tutorial, but not a last minute costume idea! It will require materials and tools not everyone's got at home, nevertheless we had to share it.
Make - Chomping Pacman Costume: A giant Pacman costume that has built in speakers and a giant chomping mouth, as well as a matching ghost (Blinky) to go along with it.
