Zhon "Animal Mortician" artist on DeviantArt created this amazing Tauntaun costume. Tautauns were introduced in Star Wars - pretty cool.
Tauntauns were a species of omnivorous reptomammals who were indigenous to the icy planet of Hoth. Tauntauns were commonly used as pack animals during the Rebel Alliance's stay at Hoth. Tauntauns were also used as patrol mounts when it was learned that the Rebel Alliance's own vehicles could not cope with the cold very well.
It's not the first time someone takes a crack at it, check out the video below, it's as close it gets from the movie prop:

This is an incredible creation made for BlizzCon 2011 by cosplayer Avery Faeth.
Pretty amazing. The original seed of an idea for this costume was planted on July 27, 2010, and the final touches were placed on October 20, 2011. Of course I managed to squeeze about 175 of the 200 hours I cumulated working on this costume into the last month before BlizzCon -- most costume success stories contain at least a touch of procrastination! My costumes have grown considerably from year to year; but every time I show up at BlizzCon and see all the other amazing costumes out there, I push myself to do bigger and better next time.
[Via thedailywh.at]Redditor Liktwo knows what the Internet likes. Namely, Skyrim and bacon. He built a replica Dragonborn helmet entirely from delicious meat, baked it in the oven, and then actually put it on his head. Liktwo estimates that his helm of greasy goodness contained enough bacon to feed 6 to 8 people. And yes, he did eat it when he was done taking photos. Well, I guess that’s one way to level up your smithing skill.
Cosplay is catching up worldwide, more and more conferences and shows are taking place, and Moscow (Russia) is not out of the loop.
Warriors, queens, steampunk, Japanese, many cosplay styles were represented during the event.
As reported, J-Fest, a cosplay show, recently took place in Moscow and featured great cosplay as you can see above.
Liz Vandal, the costume designer for OVO has a special affinity for the world of the insects. Liz has a signature style inspired by futuristic superheroes and by suits of armour from all eras.

Ian Sparke's hobby has been collecting World War one uniforms:
For almost 50 years his passion for the khaki and pageantry of the military has not faded.
And his collection has quite grown!
We'd be guessing and it's a fairly rough but accurate guess I would say that it's certainly over 60,000 items and I'd say it much more than that
This passion has become a business, a fun way to make a living:
Ian Sparke's passion has translated into expertise and is in high demand. He's a costume and production designer who also works as a military advisor.
Advising on movies like Wolverine!
He is also working with his son on his own movie:
The father and son are also planning to make their own World War I feature film ("34th Battalion").
Awesome story. Follow your passion, be patient and it might pay off.
I was playing with the new Youtube interface this morning and running some searches when i stumbled on a video from one of my favorite shows as a kid, Mr Bean.
In that Christmas episode Mr Bean is very excited about Christmas and in the process of stuffing his turkey, loses is watch inside the turkey. He then goes on to retrieve his precious watch by putting his entire head in the turkey and ends up stuck. It's a hilarious classic scene.
Next thing that comes to my mind is "someone must have made this costume"... so there you go, after some digging, i found a few pictures here, here and here from TOYCON 2010 where this guy attempted successfully to make the costume.
Awesome.
This was user TheFontBandit's first attempt at making an original steampunk variation of Batman's Harley Quinn.
The costume requires a bit more of steampunk influence, but it's a great start!

Fantastic Cyborg Ninja cosplay (which i think is Gray Fox) from the video game Meta Gear.
I picked a few photos but there are 2 full galleries to check out: Part 1: http://kero.dyndns.tv/hp/archives/391.html Part 2: http://kero.dyndns.tv/hp/archives/392.html
Who said Cosplay was only for kids?
Senior citizens of the Singapore Silver Cosplay Club participated in a contest for people over 50 years old.
The 27 members turned contestants and alongside grand sons and grand daughters, dressed up for the occasion. I think this is fabulous to see grand parents wanting to bound with their grand children over a passion that is cosplay.
I hope we see this more often, the Singapore Silver Cosplay Club had a great idea!
Kaylee Weinberg (AKA Animefreakkai) is pretty sewing-agile, she made this fantastic Malfatto costume and posted photos on her Cosplayer.com profile page.
Malfatto is a character from the video game "Assassin's Creed". In the game, he died in 1503 and was a member of the Templar Order, as well as a doctor notorious for killing courtesan.
You can check out Kaylee's site and discover other costumes she made.
This has been the longest and hardest costume that I have done to date. I started work on it when I first saw the design before the game actually came out. (almost a year ago) I just couldn’t resist doing such a cool plague doctor!
She even posted a tutorial for the mask here.
AWESOME!
Joshua Smith built this Diablo costume from the video game Diablo 3 for less than $200 and in a week!
Is that even possible?! Wow, Joshua, nice work!
The entire upper half of the costume's body was constructed, assembled, and painted in the time frame of 8 days, each day working approximately 4 hours. About $145 has went into the materials, all of them being purchased from Walmart except for the black gloves (marching gloves) that were bought from a local music store.

If you are new to the world of Cosplay, watch this fantastic documentary.
In a world where anything can be seen as normal, A Way To Escape takes you to the abnormal subculture of cosplay. Going to conventions from Kitacon to Comic Con, this takes you through a journey filled with characters including the likes of Star Wars, Doctor Who to anime and manga books like Death Note. This film shows a new world that many have not heard of before. What character would you be?
I had never seen these commercials before. Coming straight from Japan, McDonald had some interesting cosplay versions of the Ronald McDonald in their TV commercials.
First is the male version, is this the son of Ronald McDonald?
They also have Tomato McGrand, Ronald McDonald's daughter?
I am definitely adding this to our couple costume idea list!

A great group costume idea if you ask me!

This awesome scarecrow costume shoot was posted by grimdarkkommissar which he submitted for the #Villainous-Alliance for the Scariest Villain Contest which features tons of awesome entries (more about this contest soon).
This is a very good reproduction of the actual costume from the video game ""):

Spotted at ComicCon. Pretty cool.

Mandy, a sexy cosplayer, made her first costume for Comic Con under $200! Yes she did and it looked amazing.
This is what she explained on her blog:
I made this costume myself- everything combined ended up being under $200, which is not bad if you’re particularly intense about costuming like me.
If you want to learn how to make this costume for so cheap, go over to her blog to read how she did it.
She was really right on with such a tight budget:

Rachel Mansur posted her top 20 most amazing costumes from MineCon 2011 that took place recently at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas NV.

Rob Heath is a print and web designer by day, and blogger / site developer by night, and an artist.
Definitely not a newbie in the world of making costumes, he has kept track of his latest costume project through a blog http://iamsubjectdelta.com/ where he presents the process of creating his Subject Delta costume.
Fantastic.

Leonard Carson, an engineering technician for San Diego Composites, had been toying around with this idea of a carbon fiber Stormtrooper for a long time. He finally convinced three of his engineering co-workers to jump on board with turning this carbon fiber idea, into a carbon fiber reality.
Carbon fiber isn't a cheap material as you would guess, so the total value for these 4 stormtrooper costumes equals to a pretty nice car...
