Supa Tuna attended ComicKaze 2011 wearing this really good Rogue costume (kudos for the pictures too), and what's interesting is that she almost did not make it to the conference - that would have been a shame!

This weekend I had a last minute change of plans. My sister had been planning to go down to ComiKaze Expo, and I had no ticket or money to go. Last minute my other sister decided she didn't want to go so she gave her ticket to me! OAO I was so shocked and surprised. It threw me off guard at first. I've been sick all week and had no cosplays to wear. So I got off my bed and finished up my Rogue cosplay. I'll tell you, it was damn worth it.

Dressing up as Rogue was the most fun I have ever had in cosplay. I hate to sound conceited but I felt like a celebrity with how many people wanted a photo of or with me. At one point a group of people had lined up and I was literally stuck in one place for 30 minutes.

This is simply amazing. I am thinking about a million different ways this technology could be used... Imagine soldiers overseas able to have a virtual face to face using Skype with their families... Teachers could teach simultaneously at 20 different campuses around the world and be virtually present in each class!

The Big Head project is one of these experiments. It’s a large, head-mount box with a 24″ LCD on the front showing a live video view of the wearer’s face. Of course, the face is flat, slightly miscolored, unmistakeably a video and much larger than usual.

The wearer’s face is captured with a video camera looking through a half-silvered mirror. There’s a second camera, which captures a view from the front of the box, near the eyes of the on-screen face. The outside view is shown on an internal LCD, which reflects on the half-silvered mirror; this way the wearer can look directly at the LCD and the camera at the same time. (This is essentially a tele-prompter, like Errorl Morris’ Interrotron).

It weighs around 40lb and supported by the hips.

This is the illuminated, street-legal motorcycle inspired by the computer animated cycle from the 2010 film Tron: Legacy. Designed for casual cruising and slow ride-bys at shows, it is made from a steel frame covered by a fiberglass cowling that replicates the sleek look of its computer-generated imagery counterpart. Electroluminescent strips built into the tire cowlings, wheel rims, and body illuminate the cycle. It is powered by a fuel-injected Suzuki 996cc, 4-stroke engine. Riders lay at a near-horizontal position astride the padded leather seat, with feet on foot pegs that control its 6-speed constant mesh manual transmission and hands on the handlebars for throttle and braking. The hubless wheels are former truck tires built up then custom-shaped to fit onto one of two counter-rotating rims spinning within each other, providing the broad-tired authenticity of the computer cycles from the movie. A chain-driven friction drum manages acceleration and braking from the handlebars. It has spring-loaded front and rigid rear suspension. Its wet sump lubrication system eliminates tubes and hoses for oil pick-up, facilitating its streamlined, minimalist design.

Now details are emerging about this 'surreal' cosplay.

WEAPONRY Le built a replica of the machine gun on the suit’s shoulder out of PVC pipes and other materials. He added a small motor and belt drive to make the cylindrical gun spin like the real thing. To activate it, he presses a button in the palm of the suit’s glove. He says the gun could also be converted into a paintball shooter.

Some great tips on that post, including the one that makes most sense if you think about it, but is not easy to accomplish!

You have to think in shades of gray, not black white. And all your grays need to complement each other, which is freaking HARD. There’s blue-grays, red-grays, etc. Find neutral ones, use mainly those and accent with black white.

So, for Halloween this year, I thought it would be funny to create a huge version of my own head and wear it. Then I realized I had absolutely no idea how to do that. So instead, I decided to experiment and continue with my ongoing obsession with everything 8-Bit.

It's made out of: Insulation foam, joint compound, a cardboard box, glue, some gesso spray and acrylic paint. Pretty amateur stuff actually, and a really fun project. Took me about 2-3 weeks to finish. The tie was bought from ThinkGeek.com, and was a great finishing piece.

I made this as my costume for Halloween 2009. It was kind of inspired by big-head mode seen in videogames. I really wanted to get the faceted geosphere look with wireframe.

Another fine discovery from Etsy!

This is a very unique Super Mario costume, it's sexy, it says something about the geek-level, and not as cliche as other sexy costumes. We love it!

The downside? Yes, it's expensive, at $465, this unique piece isn't for everybody, but cosplayers out there will appreciate it!

This moving Halloween costume was made almost entirely from recycled and thrifted materials. It was a serious crowd-pleaser -- I walked into a bar and everyone started chanting "Go Go Gadget" until I switched on the helicopter and the entire bar started cheering. You too can be this awesome!

• thin rope

Steps:

• cut the box in half, and attach the rope at the top of a half so you can wear it around your neck.
• print out your own QR codes using a QR code generator
• get your date to to dress up as a smartphone

The entire thing is made of kitten-soft fleece, complete with appliqued felt eyeballs, and a raw edged hem.

This was my halloween getup for 06. By using a travel DVD player strapped to my stomach, with video coming from a digital camera strapped to my back, it creates the illusion that I have a very large hole in my stomach.
