How to make a Tyler Durden (Fight Club) costume

“Fight Club” was released in 1999, but in this current economic climate with unemployment and financial institutions taking liberties with the general public, the film still strikes a chord with film fans today. The film’s main character, the charismatic sociopath Tyler Durden instigates an underground “Fight Club” for men who are tired with day-to-day drudgery and seek a way let off pent-up frustrations. He’s played by Brad Pitt in the film based on Chuck Pahalniuk’s novel.

Dress up as the character and start your own Fight Club… Just don’t talk about it.

##Things You’ll Need##

* Short men’s wig in blonde or brown

* Scissors

* Pomade (for spiking)

* Fake blood

* Blue-grey eyeshadow

* Sunglasses

* Printed t-shirt

* Jeans

* Brown ’70s style vintage pleather (or leather) jacket

* Pink bar of soap

##Putting together your Tyler Durden costume##

Step 1: Head to your local thrift store and pick up a vintage-style leather or pleather jacket. The style Durden favors is a brown, cracked leather jacket in a ’70s suit coat style.

Step 2: Put on the jacket over a printed t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

Step 3: If your real hair can’t be Durden-ed up, put on a short men’s wig in either blonde or brown. For a blonde wig, you can use brown magic marker to color in some strands and add “roots”. Take your scissors to cut the wig for a spiky style, adding pomade to make your synthetic hair stand out at odd angles.

Step 4: Dip your finger in the blue-grey eyeshadow and rub it underneath your eye in the hollow to give the illusion of a black eye. You can use fake blood to add a bloody lip and make some fake cuts on your face. You can also add some bruises to your knuckles as well.

Step 5: Grab a pink bar of soap. You can carve the words “Fight Club” into it, or print out the logo with a color printer and tape or glue it to the bar.
