How to make a Street Fighter Vega costume
Thanks to the release of the newest video game in the franchise and the upcoming movie, the Street Fighter franchise is hot again! Dress up as some of your favorite characters from the arcade classic, making your own costume into something memorable.
A Spanish student of bullfighting and martial arts, Vega developed a split persona after witnessing and avenging the death of his mother at the hands of his father. Dress up as this character with these simple ideas:
##Things You’ll Need##
* Matador pants OR
* Purple sweatpants
* Red satin ribbon trim (3 yards)
* Fabric glue OR needle and thread
* White nylon socks
* Red fabric sash or Red satin scarf
* Fake snake tattoo OR washable marker to draw it on
* Plain white face mask
* Acrylic paint
##Putting together your Vega costume##
Step 1: Pick up a blonde or brown wig, depending on your preference. Vega is shown as having both hair colors at various points throughout the game. Purchase one that is already in a long, single braid or braid it yourself.
Step 2: Purchase a plain, white face mask. Decorate this mask with the purple “tattoo” that adorns Vega’s mask directly underneath the mask’s left eye with purple acrylic paint.
Step 3: Either purchase a pair of matador pants, or head to a discount department store and find a pair of purple sweatpants. Use your scissors to cut off the legs at approximately three inches above the knee, to give a matador look.
Step 4: Purchase red satin ribbon trim at a craft store. Find three yards of a nice, fairly thick trim and cut it so that it goes around the hem of both legs and down the outer seam of your pants. You can tack it down using fabric glue or with a needle and thread or sewing machine to adhere it in place.
Step 5: Tie a red satin scarf around your waist.
Step 6: Press on or draw on a large purple snake tattoo, wrapping around your chest, arm, and waist. (See picture for idea.)
Step 7: Pull on a pair of white nylon kneesocks underneath your matator pants and your shoes of choice.
Step 8: Decorate your arms with gold armbands at your wrists and higher up around your bicep if you can find ones to fit. If not, consider using a band of gold stretch sequens or braided trim to do so.
Step 9: Add the finishing touch to your Vega costume by putting on a pair of Wolverine claws to add to your martial arts prowess!
