How to make a Peg Bundy costume

The uber-tacky wife of long-suffering shoe salsman, Al Bundy, Peg Bundy is a sleazy style icon with her signature BIG red hair. The “Married… With Children” mom’s hobbies include avoiding parenting kids Bud and Kelly, watching Oprah, and scarfing bon-bons in between scheming with next-door-neighbor Marcy. Additionally, Peg enjoys lifting an extra $20 out of Al’s wallet to spend at will!

You don’t have to break the bank to look as cheap as Peg Bundy! Most of the stuff you will need can be bought cheaply from a thrift store, could be lying around your hous (kinda like Peg herself!), or purchsed at a department store thanks to the comeback of ’80s fashion! Pull off a fun look with this easy to make DIY costume that everyone will recognize!

* High heels

##Putting together your Peg Bundy costume##

Step 1: Pick up the key to your costume, a long red wig with bangs.

Step 2: Chances are, your wig might not come styled like Peg’s hair. You can easily acheive this look by “back-combing” the top layer of red hair. Take your comb and pick up the top layer of hair, starting midway at the hair shaft and scrunching the hair so that it stands up. Spray it in place with your hairspray so it stays that way. You can also take an empty roll of toilet paper (or rollers) and situate it under the hair to give a similar effect, spraying it in place for additional height.

Step 3: Once you’ve got your wig and makeup on, the rest is a cinch! Peg favors animal print tops. Find a long-sleeve leopard or zebra print top and put it on. Belt it around the waist with a wide belt of either leather or elastic fabric.

Step 4: Pull on a pair of tight-fitting leggings and either tuck your top into it, or let it hang over the top for a tunic/peplum effect with your belt.

Step 5: Put on a pair of tacky high heels in a neon color or a distinctive pattern.

Step 6: Add the finishing touches with an armful of plastic bangles and a splashy platic necklace.

Step 7: Practice your best whine! This makes a great couple’s costume with someone dressed as Al Bundy!
