How to make a Mrs. Claus costume?
Santa and Mrs. Claus make a great couples costume idea, but for those who don’t have Santa standing beside them you can still make Mrs. Claus. Mrs. Claus’ outfit can be rather simple, but you might want to purchase a pattern to make it easier. Below you will find a list of needed materials and instructions for Mrs. Claus.
* Red fleece or Velvet
* White satin
* Faux fur
* Black boots
* Mop Cap
* Gray wig
Step 1: Once you have purchases a pattern and the needed material you can begin creating your Mrs. Claus costume. The main part of the costume is a red velvet or fleece dress. Once the dress has been sewn together you will need to add the faux fur. The fur should go around the collar, hemline, and cuffs.
Step 2: To finish the dress portion of the ensemble you will need to fashion an apron out of satin and lace. The main area of the apron is satin trimmed with lace.
Step 3: The mop cap is next. This is a simple style hat made of velvet or fleece with a trim of lace. Your pattern may offer you instructions in this area.
Step 4: This is the final step in creating Mrs. Claus. You will need to add a gray wig under the mop cap, and then place spectacles on your face. You can find fake glasses or reading glasses in just about any store, though they should be round or square frames. Lastly the boots, they should be women’s boots. If you wish you can add buckles to the front, but it is not mandatory.
For a warmer costume you might also want a red velvet jacket or cape.
