How to make a Hurley from LOST costume

Hugo “Hurley” Reyes is perhaps the most likable of the Lost-aways. He’s big, burly, says “dude” a lot and is just an all-around good guy. His “cursed” lottery ticket and career with Mr. Cluck’s — and guilt — brought him to the island where he’s been a constant friend and protector to his fellow Losties. Check out how you can make a simple Hugo “Hurley” Reyes costume:

##Putting together your Hurley from LOST costume##

Step 1: Pick up an oversized t-shirt. You may want to go several sizes larger than your own, since Hurley wears baggy t-shirts that hang low.

Step 2:If you’re not as burly as Hurley, you may want to use a fat suit to pad yourself, or strap a pillow around you with a belt to give yourself some extra “fluff” and padding.

Step 3: Put on a pair of comfy cargo shorts.

Step 4: Put on a long curly brown wig. You may need to cut the wig so that it hits at your shoulders, in the style Hurley usually wears his hair.

Step 5: If you don’t want to grow a beard or your facial hair is a bit too thick, you may want to opt for using clippings from your wig and some spirit gum to make Hurley’s scraggly, peach fuzz facial hair, dabbing it on in spots.

Step 6: Put on a pair of short socks and sneakers, perfect for exploring the island.

Step 7: Grab a discman and headphones and put ’em on. Slip the discman into the pocket of your cargo shorts for easy carrying.

Step 8: For a fun prop that just screams “Hurley,” pick up a bucket in plastic or any kind… Or even use an old KFC bucket you may have washed out for this express purpose. Take the bucket and find an image of “Mr. Cluck”‘s mascot. Paint the bucket red with yellow and white letters. Print out a picture of the Mr. Cluck’s mascot and glue that baby on. If you want, fill it with some REAL fried chicken to ration out to your friends — on or off the island, dude!
