How to make a Charlie from LOST costume
Charlie Pace was once a part of the rock band, Drive Shaft, with his brother. After becoming addicted to drugs, Charlie floated aimlessly for awhile before finding himself on Oceanic 815, which crashed on an island. While there, he kicked his habit and found a connection with pregnant Claire Littleton. Although Charlie is now deceased, he remains a fan favorite character on LOST. Here’s how to bring Charlie back to life (without having to pass him through the Smoke Monster Processor Cave o’ Light n’ Doom), with a cool DIY costume idea:
##Things You’ll Need##
* Brown eyeliner pencil OR Goatee
* Black eyeliner pencil
* Green and black striped shirt
* Big ring (Make your own from Fimo or Sculpey with the “D.S” symbol for Driveshaft!)
* White medical tape
* Black magic marker
##Putting together your Charlie from LOST costume##
Step 1: Pick up a blonde or brown surfer wig and put it on. You may want to use some scissors to add more texture to your wig and get Charlie’s look down just right.
Step 2: Put on a brown goatee or use a brown eyeliner pencil to stipple on some stubble.
Step 3: Put on a striped shirt with long sleeves. (Perfect for covering old school Charlie’s track marks.)
Step 4: Put on a pair of jeans and sneakers for comfortably exploring the island.
Step 5: Pick up a large costume ring, or if you’re a stickler for details and REALLY want to make a Drive Shaft insignia ring, follow the steps below to find out how and use the above picture as a guide.
Step 6: Go to a local craft store and pick up some silver, dark grey, or pewter colored Sculpey or Fimo. Roll out a small section into a thick band and wrap it around your finger to the desired “ring” size. Make it a little bit larger in case it shrinks while baking in the oven.
Step 7: Roll out a think layer of Sculpey or Fimo again and cut it into a large square or diamond shape. Make 3D letters from smaller, rolled pieces of Fimo to create the “D.S.” logo. First place the diamond onto the rolled out “ring” you just made for your finger, then, carefuly arrange the letters on the diamond.
Step 8: Very carefully, place the ring you just made onto a piece of tinfoil in a baking dish. Follow the baking directions on the package of Sculpey, which may tell you to bake your ring for 15-20 minutes at 375 F. Take it out after the allotted time and allow it to cool.
Step 9: When your ring is cooled, you can wear it.
Step 10: On your other hand, tape each of your 4 fingers with white medical tape. Use your black Magic Marker to spell out “FATE” on each one of them
Step 11: You may just want to use pen for this, but if you want it to last all night, write “Not Penny’s Boat” on your palm of the other hand with your marker.
Step 12: Hang a syringe from your belt and grab a guitar. Team up with a gal pal wearing a pregnant Claire Littleton costume for a great LOST couples’ costume idea!
