The most critical part of an Alice in Wonderland costume is of course the dress. You must wear a blue dress with a white apron and a blonde wig on.
To do it right, either buy an Alice in Wonderland costume or make the dress yourself and make things really exaggerated. Like wear really clunky shoes or have very a very thick long wig. Having fake eye lashes and pink cheeks would work well too. She is a child, afterall. So if you're an adult trying to pull this off, you need all the help you can get!
Acting the part, you need to be very shy and innocent. (The fact that you're wearing this means that you're probably not terribly shy, so act if you must.) Some things you might say, are "I hardly know you, sir." or "Well, after this I should think nothing of falling down stairs." All in a soft, shy voice.
If you really want to go in style, be sure to hang with Dweedle Dee and Dweedle Dum, a White Rabbit, or a Mad Hatter.
