Though Mickey Mouse has been seen in other costumes the most typical is his red shorts with white gloves.
Step 1: The black body suit is essential to the Mickey Mouse costume. Mickey is a black mouse from head to feet, except for his face. We will get into the face a little later, for now you will need a long sleeve black body suit.
Step 2: Over the black body suit the only thing Mickey Mouse wears are red shorts with yellow or white buttons. The red shorts can be found in any clothing store. They just need to be a knit material with no pockets. On the front of the shorts you should sew two oval white patches evenly spaced, in a horizontal pattern. On the back of the shorts you need a tail. Mickey is a mouse so a tail is absolute to the costume. The tail should be a thin long strip of black material.
Step 3: This is the accessory stage. The yellow shoes can be tennis shoes or anything else you find, which is comfortable. You will also need to add the white gloves on the hands.
Step 4: The final step is creating the Mickey face. There are two ways to go about this. You can find a cheap full Mickey face or you can create your own face. You will need a head band or Mickey Mouse ear hat. (The hats are sold at Disney stores and can be found in some second hand stores as well). The hat will give you the black head and ears. You can leave your face the natural skin tone, with a little face paint. Mickey’s nose is black, so a huge round dot on the tip of your nose should give you the appropriate look. If you want you can enhance your eyes to look wider as well as your mouth.
