How to make an Ugly Betty costume?

red poncho - i couldnt find a red poncho but i made using a HUGE male's shirt then fabric painted the text;
very messy hair - if you dont have bangs like me, twirl, clip in place, then use a straigtening iron to flatten it out so it looks like bangs.
clothes with different prints/clashing colors - clothes that look nice by themselves or with solids look awful together
stockings - could be full on tights or thigh highs.
clunky shoes
some curly fries to accessorize
and of course braces...which i made myself using sequins...a "grill" could work as well
