Halloween to cost $300 per family this year
> In its second annual Halloween Shopping Survey released this week, Savers, Inc., a costume retailer, found that a typical family of four expects to spend $300 to costume, decorate and otherwise celebrate the holiday. Rather than repurpose costumes from a previous year, 90 percent of adults who responded to the survey are planning to create a brand new look this season, and another 81 percent will purchase new decorations for their home.
> That doesn’t mean buyers won’t be looking for bargains, though.
> More than half (54 percent) of people planning to dress up this year said they will either combine new and secondhand items or make their costume by hand in order to create a unique look and get the best value for their Halloween budget, Savers, Inc. noted.
