Grab Your Fedora: Indiana Jones Costumes Are Back in Style
Indiana Jones has been the epitome of an archaeologist in fiction. Children dream about having the adventures Indy has been on and contemplate their Indiana Jones costume for Halloween. Indiana Jones, the character, has now appeared in four films, the latest released in 2008. Harrison Ford again took up the role as Indiana Jones bringing it into a more modern period.
LucasArts announced back in March that they would be releasing a new video game based on Indiana Jones. On June 9, 2009 the PS3 video game was released to stores. The new game is called Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings. The video game has been released for Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, and PS2. Like the games that have come before it is a 3 dimensional creation. Other Indiana Jones games have been Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb, and Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.
The plot begins in 1939, making 30’s costumes imperative if you want to dress up as a character from Indiana Jones. The events which take place in the game are one year after the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade movie. It starts with a brawl in San Francisco near a fireworks factory. A runaway cable car is part of the fight. During the game play Chinatown, Istanbul, Odin, and Panama will be cities Indiana must travel to in order to get back what has been stolen. What happens during game play is still anyone’s guess at this point with the game being newly released.
For the Wii version of the game there will be an adventure one can unlock called Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. For us that just means more costumes. Atlantis costumes were extremely popular back in 2001, when Disney released Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
The ultimate archaeologist costume will be needed this year if you want to play Indiana Jones. It’s time to pick up the whip, your fedora and start running from Elephants!
