Popeye
My 10 year old son wants to be Popeye for Halloween. I'm trying to figure out how to put an outfit together for him. They don't sell Popeye costumes for this age. Any suggestions for a non-sewer.....I can probably get by with simple stitching though.
Also, any thoughts on how to do Popeye's arns?

My friend used panty hose to make muscles on her arms- she stuffed the with some sort of stuffing (cotton, socks, etc). I think she just dressed like an old fashioned sailor with a pipe.
Here you go-
One black t-shirt
One pair of light blue sweat pants
Red, Blue and Yellow fabric paint
One white hat-even a plain baseball hat found at your local art supply store.
Here's what you will do:
lay the black t-shirt down on a flat surface.
place some paint of each color on a paper plate.
you will paint a red collar on the shirt-it will go outward a bit towards the shoulder. you can find a picture on the net that will work.
blue will be used for the ends of the sleeves
yellow will be used to paint on three yellow buttons and
a belt
for the muscles you will just use either a sock close enough to his skin tone and what tegs said-panty hose....the fore arm will be the only area you will need to "stuff".
don't forget the tattoos and the pipe can be found at the dollar store, or you can make one out of a tree branch and part of a pine cone. you will need to cover the end of the pipe with a white balloon so he doesn't get yucky's in his mouth.

Maybe you wrap toilet paper or bubble wrap around his forearms and biceps, tape it with a layer of a paper you could colored to look like a bicep...don't forget to draw the tatoo on the forearm.
