Frozone
Hi folks. I'm going to be Frozone for halloween this year. Would have done it last year but had to travel on the 31st and missed the festivities. Anyway, I have the suit, boots, and gloves but I'm have a devil of a time finding the freakin' glasses. Can anybody help me out?!?!?!?!?! Rod
Commentary
-Body suit- Came from baltogs.com. I drew a sketch of what I wanted, bought a blue and white suit, and had a taylor combine the two to make one complete outfit.
-Gloves- These were the discards from the white suit. I hemmed in the gauntlet and sewed in a velcro strip around the hem to keep the gloves from slipping down. I cut the velcro into three pieces to allow the hem to flex around my forearm.
-Boots- I've forgotten where I picked those up so I'll have to research that and post back.
-Glasses- These were a beast to find but I finally got 'em. They came from www.timewarptoys.com and were the closest I could find to what I was looking for. Not sure if these were one of a kind or if there are more in stock. They cost a little more than I wanted to pay but I just considered the purchase "making the costume". I still need to make a few modifications though. The frame is a yellowish tone of white so I'll use spray paint to fix that. Also, the lenses are split at the bridge, which is normal, so I removed the lenses and cut the bridge so that one continuous lense can be fitted. Now I'll have to find some material to replace the lenses I took out. I'm looking for something similar to the plastic film that comes in poster frames. I'll cut it to the same dimensions as the lenses I removed, compensate for the missing bridge section, and apply one coat of transparent blue paint to complete the look.
That should just about do it. I'll post up pics when I get everything sorted out.

Had a little problem with the material for the glasses. I was going to use the plastic protective film that comes with poster frames but the material proved to be a bit much to work with. I got the new lenses cut out but the material didn't flex the way I wanted it to. The lenses probably would have shattered if stressed at all. So, I went to Office Max and picked up a document protector. Much easier to work with! I'll be painting the frames and lenses tonight. Look for pics soon.

Ok folks, I finally got it done. Only one pic to post so far. I'm still learning how to use the self timer.

No more pics to add just yet but great news! I won first place for best costume last Saturday. I didn't even think I'd have a chance - just wanted to see if the costume would even work. As it turned out I was a smash hit and won the $100 cash prize. I'll be attending another costume party tomorrow night. We'll see what else happens now that I have a little confidence behind me. Hoperully I'll have more pics to post too.

Hello all. Sad to say I didn't win last night. I did make it to the top 5 though. There were some really great costumes and top three certainly deserved their places. But I was still a big hit. The ladies were checkin' me out and all the fellas were giving me props for the whole ensemble.
Thanks for your interest. Not sure how often I'll visit this site in the coming months but I'll cetainly return next Halloween. Take care all.

Hey all, I'm back. I've been contemplating, over the last 10 months, just what I might be for Halloween this year - and I've decided to be Frozone again. The costume was such a big hit last year that I'm gonna try it again this year. Besides, it took way too much preparation to only have worn the outfit once. I'll be posting up more pics, soon, of the individual pieces of the costume and of me fully suited. If there's anyone else out there donning a Frozone costume and would like some tips, hit me up.

Switching gears.
I've got a new costume for this year! I wouldn't say it's better, but certainly as good - as far as originality goes. My boss brought a Rubik's cube to work one day and I was fiddling with it and thought what a cool costume that would be. On a whim I Googled it and found the step by step design on Flikr. I acquired the materials and am well on my way to completion. The Flikr details weren't actually that detailed. The original designer made quite a few assumptions but I figured it out. I'll be posting the unabridged assembly instructions (with better detailed photos) in the next few days. This should get some attention.

I just added some more photos of my Frozone outfit. I also posted photos and instructions on the Rubik's cube. The cube isn't quite finished yet but, if you're interested, you can get a pretty good start with what I've shown so far. I'll be adding the last few photos in the coming days.
