Fantasy Fest of Key West: Costume Explosion!
Key West is known for their parties, wacky events, and slow paced life. Visiting Key West is like taking a step into a different world, with the historical houses, beach front resorts, and costumes. Every year Key West has Fantasy Fest which stars many varieties of costumes. It has just been announced this year’s Fantasy Fest theme is based on Villains like the Joker, Vixens, and Vampires. It will be a ghoulish experience as attendees prowl the streets!
Fantasy Fest has 10 days of masquerade balls, quirky costume contests, and a grand parade. The Fest kicks off with villain costumes October 23rd, ending on November 1st. The concept of Fantasy Fest began 30 years ago and has grown to international recognition.
You still have time to get your vixen costume ready if you hope to be on the streets with everyone else for the Royal Coronation Ball in which a festival King and Queen are crowned. Perhaps this year it will be Maleficent who sits atop the throne. Do not forget to dress up your pets in a variety of pet costumes found at Costumzee.com. Pets are just as much a part of the fun as humans.
The most important costume competition will be held October 29th, so you must make sure your vampire costume is ready by then. The competition is held at the Pier House Resort Beach which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. What better way to celebrate your closeness to Cuba than a Spanish Vampire costume?
Allow yourself to run through the streets of Key West shopping at the many art galleries, feasting of deadly delights, and hiding behind your masquerade masks! Caribbean marching bands join the Captain Morgan Fantasy Fest Parade for a stroll down main street Key West, and while you are in this tropical paradise stop by Hemmingway’s home to see where the writer lived. Pandemonium is awaiting you, so don’t hesitate to grab your Jimmy Buffet CD, sewing machine, and start working on the best costume this Fantasy Fest has ever seen!
