Soccer fans the world over are eagerly anticipating the World Cup which gets underway June 11, 2011 and goes all the way through July 11. It's a solid month of soccer with 32 teams from around the world competing for association football's most prestigious trophy.

Like the Olympics, the World Cup only comes once every four years. The last World Cup, in 2006, was held in Germany. The upcoming 2010 World Cup will be held in South Africa, while 2014's competition will be held in Brazil -- the home nation of one of soccer's most famous players, the great Pele.

The 2010 World Cup Tournament will be aired live on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. The matches will be available in Hi-Def and comprehensive coverage and behind the scenes looks at the teams and competitors will also be aired on these channels. Soccer afficionados can map out when their favorites are playing by taking a look at the Tournament Schedule on the FIFA World Cup home page.

Regardless of who you're pulling for, you can beat the heat and watch all the action live on TV. Treat the World Cup like it's American football counterpart, the Super Bowl, by throwing viewing parties complete with costumes and snack foods from around the world -- like each of the 32 teams.
