How to make a Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (Alice in Wonderland) costume

"I love my fat boys!" is what the Red Queen exclaims when she captures bumbling twin brothers, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum to serve as her personal court entertainers in the new Tim Burton version of "œAlice in Wonderland". Played by Little Britain's Matt Lucas, these stout simpleton siblings make for a simple DIY costume. Just double-up your order on each of these things so you and your costumed cohort can match.

Things You'll Need

Putting together your Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (Alice in Wonderland) costume

Step 1: Slick back your hair and put it under a bald cap .

Step 2: If you're not as roly poly as Tweedle Dee and his brother, you'll probably need to use a pillow to pad you out. Get someone to help you, as you will need to put a pillow at your front and one at your back. Turn the pillow lengthwise and hold it against your front while your helper holds another pillow (also lengthwise) against your back. Fasten one belt around your chest and the other around your waist to hold your pillows in place.

Step 3: Button the striped shirt from the bottom, leaving only enough room to slip 9it over your head. You will want a larger-than-usual shirt so that any of the ridges and lumps from your pillows won't show under tight fabric. This will give you a pleasinjgly plump--and more realistic"”look.

Step 4: You'll want your brown shorts a little larger, but not too large. It's perfectly acceptable to have a bumpy belly or a "muffin top" for this costume.

Step 5: Snap on a pair of red suspenders over your shoulders holding up your brown shorts. Step 6: Pull on a pair of red and white striped stockings underneath your shorts, similar to the pair Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum wear. These are actually quite easy to find online, or at retail stores. They come in a variety of sizes, including men's.

Step 7: Slip on a pair of brown loafers.

Step 8: OPTIONAL: You can draw little hearts on your forehead with a fake "stamp" ridge around them with a red lipliner pencil. You will then have similar depictions of the ownership stamps the red queen placed on the two bumbling brothers.
