St. Patrick's Day - 03/17/2011
Every March 17th, regardless of their heritage, everyone becomes Irish on St. Patrick's Day!
Named for the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick's Day celebrates the legacy of the man who drove the snakes out of the Emerald Isles and introduced the three-leaf clover as a symbol of faith.
Although the holiday is a much more secular one, St. Patrick's Day in the United States is usually celebrated with an abundance of leprechauns, green beer, and four-leaf clovers as a sign of good luck.
Traditional Irish food like delicious ham and cabbage dinners are also part of the celebration, as are local parades in honor of the day! In Dublin, Ireland, the celebration is even bigger, commemorating its patron saint with a major parade and a five-day celebration!
Whether you speak softly and carry a sheleighly or take part in the wearing of the green, Erin Go Braugh and top of the mornin' to ya this March 17th!
