Easter - 04/12/2009

Easter is known as one of the most important calendar holidays of the Christian faith, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, triumphing over death after sacrificing himself on the cross and rising from the dead to spread a message of peace.

Easter coincides with the Jewish high holy day of Passover, which, according to the Bible commemorates the Angel of Death "passing over" the houses of devout Jews in an effort to deliver them from the bondage of Egyptian slavery.

Easter as it's celebrated today with the Easter bunny and colorful dyed eggs also incorporates aspects of an ancient pagan celebration of nature, spring, and fertility with the onset of warmer months and spring flowers.

Regardless of your religious beliefs, Easter is a joyous time of celebration for all! Whether you choose to re-enact the death and resurrection of Jesus in a traditional Passion Play or entertain children at an Easter egg hunt or the mall dressed as the Easter Bunny, there's a costume for everybody to help celebrate the spring holiday!
